Hello @Yen_Ang,

Thank you for sending the log file but it seems like the recording is corrupted, unfortunately.

If you want to record a bit long sessions, you can select the H264 video codec for less disk space usage. For changing codec, please take a look at Work with Recording Settings Dialog in ActivePresenter 8

Please note that ActivePresenter is primarily designed for creating eLearning content with a duration of approximately one hour. So far, it has not been tested well for recording very long sessions yet.
You should search the Internet for other screen recorders if you want to capture a long session like that.

Hello Hang, I hope you can help me with this. I need to recover a very important recording. I recorded for 3 hours long at least and when I try to save it, the app doesn’t open up at all to be saved. It stopped responding that I need to close it afterwards, but there’s no autosave and it didn’t save it at all. I have checked the cached projects and I have available files over there including some recordings but I am not sure if they were recordings of the video I recorded today.

In addition to that, I copied the files dated today to another folder and tried to open it with ActivePresenter but unfortunately it says the file can’t be read or it is corrupted.
Please advise since I am very eager to recover these files. Thank you.

I appreciate the information you provided. Based on what you shared, it appears that your situation is similar to the one described by Yen_Ang in a previous comment, where a lengthy recording was made but became corrupted. Unfortunately, it does not seem possible to retrieve the recording in your case.

Thanks for contacting us in both email and our user community.
Since the issue happens to your laptop while exporting the video, kindly take a look at the cached folder:
C:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\ActivePresenter\.ActivePresenterCachedProjects. (for Windows)
Users/<user_name>/Documents/ActivePresenter/.ActivePresenterCachedProjects (for macOS)

Kindly note that “.ActivePresenterCachedProjects” is a hidden folder so you might need to turn the “Show Hidden Files” option on (for Windows) or press “Command” + “Shift” + “.” (for macOS) to see it.

If there are video, or audio files here, you can copy them to another folder and open them with ActivePresenter for editing.
Otherwise, there is no way to recover your video, unfortunately.
