SCORM Presentation with Timestamps Unable to Work Well on iOS

Problem: My SCORM presentation, which consists of videos and programmed timestamps (inserted via interactive buttons), cannot play smoothly on iOS devices. Whenever the user on iOS clicks on the interactive button to jump to a timestamp, the SCORM video freezes. The video freeze will not happen if the timestamp starts at an instance which requires a user’s input (like the clicking of a button). Also, the moment the user seeks (scrubs) the slide progress bar on iOS device, the SCORM video freezes. I did a search online and understand that iOS has this Autoplay restriction whereby the playing of media is blocked unless the user initiates it. Is this why my SCORM presentation cannot perform well on iOS devices? Are there any workarounds to this?

ActivePresenter version: 10

Hi,

Thank you for your detailed description.

This behavior may be related to the media playback restrictions in iOS. In some cases, Safari requires media playback to be initiated directly by a user interaction. As a result, after jumping to another timestamp, iOS may prevent the video from resuming automatically if the playback is no longer considered part of the original user action.

However, since the video also freezes when manually seeking using the slide progress bar, we can’t confirm that the autoplay restriction is the only cause.

Could you also let us know whether the same SCORM package works correctly on Windows (using the same LMS, if possible)? This will help us determine whether the issue is specific to iOS or related to the project or LMS.

If possible, please send your ActivePresenter project, along with the iOS version, and LMS information to our support email at support@atomisystems.com. We’ll investigate the issue further.

Best regards,
Hoa

Hi Hoa, thank you for your advice. I have sent my project file to your support email and included a more detailed description of the problems I faced. Hope to hear from you all soon. Many thanks!
