Question about the “Backup Project” feature in ActivePresenter 10

I have a question regarding the “Backup Project” feature in ActivePresenter 10.

In the preferences, I set the backup interval to every minute.
My expectation was that the project file in my project folder would be updated accordingly — so that after each minute I would see the project file change or be overwritten.

However, this doesn’t seem to be the case. My project has been open for about 30 minutes, and I haven’t noticed any changes to the project file or any indication that it has been written to. ActivePresenter in the top menu still shows the asterisk (*) next to my project file (xxx.approj), which indicates that there are unsaved changes.

Is there a way to check whether the project is actually being backed up automatically?

Thank you

Armin

Hi Armin,

Let me clarify how the Backup Project feature works in ActivePresenter 10.

The backup interval you set in Preferences does not relate to overwriting your main project file (the *.approj file).
Instead, ActivePresenter automatically creates separate backup copies in the Backup folder,

(Windows) C:\Users<your_user_name>\AppData\Roaming\ActivePresenter\backup
(macOS) /Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Application\ Support/ActivePresenter/backup

These backup files are generated at the interval you set (e.g., every minute) while your project is open.

That’s why you don’t see the main project file updating automatically, nor does the asterisk (*) disappear because that still indicates unsaved changes in your current working file.

Note: You can see the backup files in the above folders, but we recommend that users not make any changes to that folder.

I hope this clears things up!

BR,
Thuy
