Problem: I feel stupid that I cannot work this out, but I assume it must be possible. I can build a sldiehsow in Active Presenter, or import on from PowerPoint with animations and things that advance on a click of a mouse button. I just want to be able to present the slideshow as I would in Powerpoint, where the slide is shown, and I can record the screen as I narrate, clicking to advance the animations on each slide. However, all previews I have found auto-advance the slides from one to the next, without stopping on each one and allowing clicks. Does Active Presenter have a way to Show a Slideshow, one slide at a time, while recording the screen to narrate as I click to activate elements on each slide, without automatically moving on to the next slides as if it were a video? Or do I still need to use Powerpoint for that?
ActivePresenter can do that when you export or preview in HTML5 using a non-Demonstration mode (that is, Tutorial, Practice, or Test mode).
If your ActivePresenter project is created by importing a PowerPoint presentation with animations that advance on mouse click, please make sure to deselect “Import PowerPoint animations to the main timeline” before importing.
This way, animations will be imported into the Click Sequence timeline, and they will behave the same way as in PowerPoint (click to advance each animation step).
If you create the project manually in ActivePresenter, you will need to add animations to the Click Sequence timeline manually, or use the Main Timeline together with Events-Actions to achieve the same click-to-advance behavior.
Please also note that HTML5 output is only available in the Pro edition. However, you can still try HTML5 preview/export in the Free or Standard edition to see whether it meets your needs before deciding to upgrade.
Since you already own the Standard edition, you would only need to pay the price difference between Standard and Pro if you decide to upgrade.
OK, thanks. It was the auto-advance setting in the transitions that was causing my main issue, as well as this “Import PowerPoint animations to the main timeline”.
However, there is another issue. Let me give a specific example:
The powerpoint slide has an animation to fade in a text box. The text box has three paragraphs. The fade in has an effect applied to reveal one paragraph at a time. In Powerpoint, it would take three key presses to reveal all three paragraphs.
In the HTML preview, the entire text appears at once, which I understand having not imported with animations to timeline, BUT, I need to press the arrow key THREE times before the slide advances. Each press reloads the entire text, so it “flashes in then out” three times before the slide advances.
Does this mean I would have to remove the animation effects modifiers from the powerpoint before importing?
