Images optimized on export?

After owning Animate for years, I’m finally getting into it, and… WOW, this program is amazing! This is like having Macromedia Director back – except it works on any machine, and without plugins!

I’m nervous about how long it’s been since the program’s been updated, but I hope it isn’t going to be abandoned, because getting good at it feels like the most promising skill I can develop right now, and I don’t understand why everybody isn’t using this capability. (Okay, beside the fact that it takes a lot of work to build a scene, animate everything, and make all the adjustments so the project is responsive.)

I remember when I got my first computer and it came with a bunch of fun, informative CD-ROMs. What a bright future that seemed like! And Saola Animate would be the perfect tool to create and share endless amounts of content like that. But here we are in 2025 with social media filled with algorithms designed to make us hate each other.

Sorry… my point: Do I need to optimize my images before importing them into Animate, or will it optimize them on export?

Thanks for your reply, and for your reassurance that I can rely on Animate.

I also just realized that the resources aren’t embedded but referenced externally. Sure enough, when I compressed the external image, it was simply updated in the project. Easy!
