Problem:
Can you please tell me what is wrong with this drag and drop slide ? Why don’t the drag sources stay on the dop targets ever ?

Not sure I can offer an answer to the “WHY” question…
Perhaps something simply became corrupted. Have you tried creating a new drag and drop slide in the same manner?
If it still does not work - build your drag and drop manually rather than use the Question Type.
Go ahead and draw 8 boxes over the answer spaces and tag them as drop targets.
Then create another 8 to be the drag sources.
Create actions for each accept - maybe increment a variable as a score or whatever you wish.

It looks like this issue is happening because Image_12 is placed on top of the question and is covering the drop target underneath.
To fix it, just move the image to the back by pressing CTRL + END (or send it backward) so the drop area becomes accessible.

Ha - I should have discovered that. I didn’t have any trouble selecting the drag and drop layer so it did not occur to me to check it.
The problem was as you said @Hang! I just had object order such that an unresponsive one covered the responsive elements of the slide. Thank you for your help! You can consider this issue solved
