Add Matching Question Type to ActivePresenter

Hello ActivePresenter Team,

I would like to request a new feature: the addition of a Matching Question type, similar to what is available in Adobe Captivate. This question type is essential for creating interactive learning content, especially for assessments where users need to match terms, definitions, or concepts.

Adding this feature would greatly enhance ActivePresenter’s capabilities in e-learning content creation and make it easier to create a wider variety of quizzes and assessments.

Thank you for considering this feature request.

Hi Burhan,

Thank you for your suggestion. Could you please provide a bit more detail about how you’d like the Matching Question to work, so we can better understand your exact needs?

In the meantime, you may find that the Drag-and-Drop question in ActivePresenter can already be used to create similar matching exercises, where learners drag an item (e.g., a term) and drop it onto its corresponding match (e.g., a definition or concept).

Best Regards,

Hi Hang,

Thank you for your response.

To clarify, what I need is not a drag-and-drop interaction, but a built-in Matching Question type similar to the one in Adobe Captivate. For example, a question where learners see two lists (e.g., terms on the left and definitions on the right) and they simply select the correct pairs from drop-down menus or by choosing from a list, rather than dragging and dropping.

I have many questions that need to be created in this exact format, so having a native Matching Question type would be much more efficient and user-friendly.

Could you please check if this is possible in ActivePresenter, or if there’s a recommended way to achieve the same result without drag-and-drop?

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing additional details about your feature request.

We’ll take this into consideration, but unfortunately, it isn’t on our roadmap in the near term. Regarding the dropdown option in a matching question, you can achieve a similar setup in ActivePresenter by placing labels on the left and using dropdowns on the right.

Regards,

I would have loved for this question type to be added. We write our feature requests here, but what if a survey was added? Users could see them and vote. Could you add such a feature to your site?

This type of Matching Question is not only available in Adobe Captivate, but also in Articulate Storyline. It seems to be a common question type in major e-learning authoring tools, which is why it would be very valuable to have it in ActivePresenter as well.

Dear fellow ActivePresenter users, what do you think about this? Wouldn’t it be great to have this Matching Question type available in ActivePresenter as well? Please feel free to share your thoughts and vote for this request!

The more ready to go question types, the better. It will only make AP an even better tool!

I’d like to bring up a feature request I mentioned earlier — a Matching Question type. In many of my e-learning projects, clients specifically ask for this kind of question format, so it’s becoming an essential need.

Not everyone using the software is familiar with JavaScript, so having a built-in, ready-to-use Matching Question format would make it much easier and more accessible for all users. I’ve also noticed in the forum that other users have requested the same feature before. It would be great if this could be included in the next update.

If you don’t plan to implement a built-in Matching Question feature, please at least share an example or tutorial showing how we can build a similar structure manually — not a drag-and-drop interaction, but a true matching question setup.

Thank you very much for considering this. I really hope to see this feature added soon!
