Timeline View is missing

Problem: For some or the other reason, Timeline is not present for me at all. Advice offered to someone with a similar problem says one should click on the ‘Reset’ button under ‘Reset Window Layout’ under the ‘general’ section in 'Preferences.

There is however no ‘Reset Window Layout’ option under "General’ in Preferences. Can you help please?
