I downloaded the free software with the intention of purchasing the program if it fits our needs. Unfortunately, I can’t get far enough to see if it will work for us because after every recording I get the message that the software has stopped working. Any ideas?

Can you please share the Log file?
To view the log, in Start Page, click Preferences (the Gear icon near the bottom left) > Miscellaneous > View Log.
