Problem: I found that after recording a group of clips into one video the result takes up much more memory than the combined amount of memory of the clips before recording into one. I also notice that AcitvePresenter says something about a slide show. Does it make separate slides which contribute to the added amount of memory taken up? If so is there a way not to make the slides which I have no use for? Also where are they stored so I can go back and delete them?
ActivePresenter version: ActivePresenter Free Edition Version 9.1.4
ActivePresenter is primarily designed as an eLearning authoring tool, focusing on creating courses rather than serving solely as a video recording and editing software. It performs optimally when recording videos between 30 minutes to 1 hour, although this also depends on your computer’s performance.
If you already have video clips, consider directly inserting them into ActivePresenter instead of re-recording them. This approach saves time and resources while maintaining video quality.
In ActivePresenter, slides are displayed on the left side of the working window, similar to PowerPoint. You can easily add or delete slides as needed. When you save your project, the file (.approj) and an accompanying external data folder (following the pattern PROJECT_FILE_files) are created on your computer if your resources (audio/video) exceed 50MB. Deleting these files can help free up memory on your device.
Thank you for the explanation! After recording them I select Exp and export them to a folder, then rename them and put them in different folders. Does that still create the slides?
How do I directly insert the video clips into ActivePresenter? Would I have to do that each time in order to watch them as a group or could I then save the set as one video and if so how to do that?
When you export your project to video, the process creates a video file based on your project content, but it doesn’t affect the original project or create additional slides within it.
To insert videos into ActivePresenter, you click Video in the Insert tab > From file. Or simply drag and drop the video from your computer onto the Canvas.
You can add all of them to one slide for previewing them as a group in the editor/Canvas just by placing the Playhead where you want to add the next video like this:
Or, you can place each video on a separate slide and preview them as a group by clicking the Export tab > HTML5 Preview option.
Note that when you export your project to video (Export tab > Video), all slides are included in the final video output. Therefore, you don’t need to combine all video clips into a single slide. Feel free to use as many slides as necessary for easier editing and project management.
I must have done it wrong. I dragged and dropped all the clips onto the timeline and it acted like it loaded them. Then when they were all in there I clicked Export then Video and another window came up and I hit okay. Then it wanted to know if I wanted to save the changes to Untitled 1 so I said yet, then it wanted to know about untitled 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 so I said no not needing new copies of what I already have.
