Japanese Layout issues in SCORM 1.2

Problem: We localized one of our modules into Japanese and it looks just fine in AP itself, however when exporting to SCORM 1.2 (Embed Fonts selected), the text wrappings are incorrect and the font looks different (especially the character spacing) despite being the same font used in AP (see screenshots as an example)

ActivePresenter version: ActivePresenter Pro Edition
Version 8.5.4 - 64-bit build. (Released: 2021.11.18)

OS: Windows 10

Notes: here some screenshots to showcase how it looks in AP vs. how it looks in Preview/ LMS

Hi Sheree,

The cause of problem is ActivePresenter and browsers substitute fonts differently (Roboto font doesn’t contain Japanese characters).
Please use Japanese fonts like Mincho, Gothic for formatting text.
We will try to improve this in the future update.

Hello,

thank you for your feedback - we came to the same conclusion and decided to test with the font “Noto Sans JP”, also in order to keep the formatting for other non-supported languages (Korean, Hindi etc.)

But unfortunately it also still causes issues, irrespective of which fonts we use

we will divert to editing the layout, until we can find a better solution - this is not ideal best practise in localization, but it’s all we can go with for now

Hi Sheree,

Can you please share a sample project for the issue so we can take a closer look? We just need one slide which has the problem (maybe the one that produces the screenshot above).

Hello,

yes sure - I can’t upload it here…even with one slide the file is too large. How can I get it to you?

thank you for having a look!

Regards,
Sheree

Hi,

The file size of one slide without audio/video/image resources should not be too large.
Maybe your project is large due to unused resources.
You can copy that slide to a new empty project or shrink your project to reduce the file size.

Anyway, you can upload your project to a cloud storage service like Google Drive and share the link.
