Having a problem with simultaneously recording system and mic sounds

Problem:
I’m trying to simultaneously record my system sound and sound from my headset on Windows 10. I just updated ActivePresenter earlier today, so it should be up to date. I messed around a bit and found a solution to recording system audio (because it wouldn’t work to use Stereo Mix or anything else I have for audio, and the Record System Audio box was effectively usesless). I plugged in two splitter jacks, one in my headphones port, and another in my microphone port. Then, I connected them with a double-sided audio cable and plugged in my headset’s headphones to the splitter jack in the headphones port. This works to record the system’s audio, and I can still hear it through my headset. So then I plugged my headset’s microphone into the splitter jack in the microphone port, and then unplugged and re-plugged the same splitter jack (just to be sure everything updated properly), before restarting ActivePresenter. Now, in the Capture New Project window, I have four options in the Device drop-down menu: “None”, “Microphone (3- Logitech G430 Gaming Headset)” (which records nothing), “Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)” (which records only system sound), and “Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)”. The last one records system sound, and in Capture New Project it says it detects microphone sound too, but when I record with it I hear nothing from the mic in playback (even when there are no system sounds). I’m not sure what to do from here, and solutions that are working for others aren’t working for me, so any help would be much appreciated.

Notes:

Hi,

The latest version of ActivePresenter is 7.0 and you can download it from https://atomisystems.com/download. The update for this version is not available yet.

I am not sure what you want to achieve with many steps. Basically, you just need to make sure to plug necessary devices before starting ActivePresenter, then select the Microphone and System Audio items in the audio device list as shown below.

If it doesn’t work, please share the log so we can check. To view the log, click Prefrences… (the button on the bottom-left of Start Page) > Miscellaneous > View Log.

Regards,

I am having an audio problem as well. When I record the record bars appear to fluctuate with my voice, but nothing ever plays back - what am I missing? I tried to upload my file so you could check it, but was blocked from doing so.

2018-01-10 13:43:35: Checking updates for ActivePresenter v7.0.0…
2018-01-10 14:00:32: ActivePresenter 7.0.0 (Release Build: 2017.12.28) shut down

I just installed version 7.0, and it’s working just fine now with Record System Audio enabled and setting the microphone to Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio). Thanks for your assistance :slightly_smiling_face:

@Cheesifier
We are glad to hear that it works.
Regards,

Hi Carlos_Vela,

According to the log, the recording audio seems to be fine. Please check if your computer has two or more audio output devices and ActivePresenter just plays audio through one of them. And please check to see if audio wave appears on Timeline or not?

Regards,
