Problem: There is a carry over of a TEXT to other slides. This is despite the fact that it I have already DELETED the text box that registers to other slides.

This may cause when setting your text as default text caption.
So now, you can try reset all object settings in the Object Settings view (View tab > Object Settings > click Reset All Object Settings on the Objects Settings tab’s toolbar) to see if it helps.
