# ActivePresenter 8 + Logitech Capture

Hi,  
I’m not sure if I should post this as a support question, anyway.  
So far, I’ve been using Active presenter using several virtual camera programs like Facerig or Xplit. No issue so far.

However, it fails to recognize “Logitech Capture” as a source. I’ve got a Logitech Brio; the video quality is better in their software, for some reason.

Is it possible to add “Logitech Capture” as a source?

Hi Cesar,

ActivePresenter 8 uses the new API on Windows (since Windows 7) to support more new webcam models. However, the older webcams (physical and virtual ones) may not work because their drivers don’t support the new API.

Unfortunately, we have no plan to support the old API since it is deprecated by Microsoft.

Hi Cesar,

If ActivePresenter doesn’t work with Logitech Brio, please share the log of ActivePresenter so we can check. To view the log, click ActivePresenter \> Preferences \> Miscellaneous \> View Log.

Please also describe the symptoms when working with this device. Does it appear in the webcam device list when recording?

I checked the Log. The Logitech Brio appears there. However, its “video quality” is totally downgraded.  
In other programs, I use Logitech capture, as a virtual webcam, to enhance the quality of the camera.

The issues with the Brio are, huge Drop in FPS, Colors seem pale, ChromaKey cannot be properly used as the color seems to vary (even with good lighting)

The only virtual cameras that appear registered are Facerig, DroidCam, and, XSplit VCam.

When I use the Logitech Brio, the video quality is poor. Even with good lighting. I understand a WebCam’s limitations, but the Brio’s simply seems it cannot be used in the best settings.

Logitech Capture is up to date. So are all drivers/firmware. Still, I have no idea about the API (To be sincere, I don’t know what it is really well)

Hi Cegarma,

Thanks for sharing the log.

So, the Logitech Brio still works but without the features offered by Logitech Capture.

The old API is Windows DirectShow and the new one is Windows Media Foundation. These are technical definitions and not easy to explain for users. ActivePresenter doesn’t support the former while Logitech Capture seems doesn’t support the later.

Unfortunately, there is no quick way to fix this problem.
